About Sonya
I got my ADHD diagnosis in my fifties and it reframed everything. Not in a tidy, all-better way. More like... oh. THAT'S why. That's the whole thing.
I'd spent decades being the person who had it together on the outside. Organised, never late, high-functioning. What nobody could see was the scaffolding holding it all up, or how exhausting it was to maintain.
I'm also a teacher with a Masters in Student Wellbeing and a Graduate Certificate in Neurodiversity, and a parent. So I come at this from a few angles at once. The research, the lived experience, and the very personal experience of watching someone you love navigate a world that wasn't built for their brain.
Finding out I had ADHD didn't fix anything overnight. But it gave me a framework that finally made sense of my whole life. And that's what I make content about.
If you're a woman who found out late, who's still piecing it together, who recognised yourself in someone else's story before you recognised yourself in the clinical criteria, you're in the right place.
I'm at @ohthatswhyadhd on TikTok, Instagram and Threads most days. Come find me.
